The series follows the work of Jack Spratt and Mary Mary, and is set in the Nextian Universe.

The Big Over Easy Edit

Nursery celebrity Humpty Stuyvesant Van Dumpty III, minor baronet, ex-convict, and former millionaire philanthropist, is found shattered to death beneath a wall in a shabby area of town. All the evidence points to his ex-wife, who has conveniently shot herself. But Detective Inspector Jack Spratt and his assistant Mary Mary remain unconvinced, a sentiment not shared with their superiors at the Reading Police Department, who are still smarting over their failure to convict the Three Pigs of murdering Mr. Wolff.

The Fourth Bear Edit

The Gingerbreadman—psychopath, sadist, genius, and killer—is on the loose. But it isn’t Jack Spratt’s case. He and Mary Mary have been demoted to Missing Persons, which looks like a boring assignment until a chance encounter leads them into the hunt for missing journalist Henrietta "Goldy" Hatchett, star reporter for The Daily Mole. Last to see her alive? The Three Bears.

The Guardian: "The Locked Door Mystery mystery" Edit

The Last Great Tortoise Race Edit

This book does not exist. Jasper Fforde has announced the title, but has also announced that he is not writing the book, nor does he have any plans to do so in the near future. It is likely that if he gets round to writing it, it will involve Pandora and Prometheus' wedding, as in The Fourth Bear, Jack stated that the annual Tortoise v Hare race was happening on the same day as the wedding.
